Umweltproduktdeklaration für Baustoffe (EPD nach DIN 15804)
The product-related life cycle assessment considers the entire life cycle of a product or product system - also known as life cycle assessment (LCA) or "cradle to grave" consideration. The polluter-pays principle is applied, and emissions along the entire value chain are included in the analysis. Appropriate certification procedures can be used to draw up an environmental product declaration for building materials.
EPD for building materials and products
In an environmental product declaration, colloquially EPD, the life cycle of a building product as well as information relevant to building physics and general aspects are presented.
The environmental product declaration is drawn up in accordance with the DIN EN 15804 standard and thus ensures uniform evaluation and comparability of EPDs. They are recommended as evidence by the Construction Products Regulation and find their application primarily in the evaluation of the sustainable use of resources and for assessing the impact of buildings on the environment, e.g. in a DGNB or BNB building certification.
