Priv. Doz. Dr. Stefan Wolf is an educational scientist with a specialisation in vocational education. Since 2013, he has been a member of the university teaching staff at Faculty I – Humanities and Educational Science at the Technical University of Berlin in the Department of School and Vocational Education at the Institute of Educational Science.

Since 2014, he has worked as a deputy professor at various universities. Until 2014, he worked as a trained vocational school teacher with the subjects of metal technology and social studies in the Berlin school service. Prior to his academic work, he trained as an industrial mechanic and completed a master craftsman’s diploma in mechanical engineering.

He has extensive international experience, including spending time in Cuba and other developing countries, including the MENA region. In 2013, he received the academic title of Profesor Adjunto Internacional, awarded by the Universidad de Sancti Spiritus, Cuba. Complementing his academic contribution in the field of vocational education and training in developing countries, he has been in frequent demand as a consultant and speaker by various development organisations.

His research interests include vocational didactics and pedagogy of teacher and trainer education, applied historical-systematic vocational education research. One of his main interests is the field of international comparative VET with a special focus on cultural studies, critical and postcolonial approaches to science. He attaches great importance to the close link between theory and practice.

    From 2008 to 2014, simultaneously active as a vocational school teacher of the subjects metal technology and social and political sciences in Berlin. Main areas of employment were the professions in mechatronics, metal and automotive engineering, until 2013 training of plant mechanics (HKL) at the production school OSZ Bautechnik Nr.1 and practice-oriented social studies teaching at the Oberstufenzentrum in Berlin, from 2013 at the Oberstufenzentrum Maschinen- und Fertigungstechnik Georg-Schlesinger-Schule in a pilot project of the Integrated Vocational Training Preparation (IBA).

    Since 2003, coordinator of the International Knowledge Network for Sustainable Development (IKN Network) at the TU Berlin. The IKN combines scientific knowledge and practical know-how of the countries of the North and the South and transfers the results of educational measures and practical activities into the South-South connection and into the economic and development cooperation of the North. The IKN cooperates with scientific and civil society institutions in European and non-European countries.
